A research team, led by mechatronics professors Siamak Arzanpour and Edward Park, has been designing, developing and fine-tuning the most advanced wearable exoskeleton in the world to assist people with motion disability to walk naturally and independently. This project is now completing internal phase of clinical studies and will be ready next year to begin clinical trials in the U.S. and Canada. The aim is to receive approval from the Food and Drug Administration and Health Canada to first use the exoskeleton in rehabilitation clinics and then make it available for personal use.
